Tellqvist back up in the NHL

Goaltender Mikael Tellqvist has been recalled by the Toronto Maple Leafs from St. John’s. Tellqvist, who has been handling most of the workload in St. John’s nets this season has been playing relatively solid for the Blue and White on the Rock. In his last five games, Tellqvist has a 2-2-1 record and a 2.95 AVG. Tellqvist stopped 189 of 204 shots he faced in that span for a .926 save percentage. Mikael Tellqvist was Torontos 3rd choice, 70th overall in the 2000 Entry Draft.

Goaltender Jamie Hodson has been recalled to St. Johns and will join the team in Providence. Hodson, Torontos 3rd choice, 69th overall in 1998, has appeared in two games for St. Johns this season. St. Johns will kick-off a six-game road trip tonight when the Maple Leafs face the Providence Bruins. It’s expected Sebastien Centomo, who has played 16 games this season with a 6-8-1 record, a 3.76 GAA and an .883 save percentage will start.

Meanwhile, Shea Heights, Newfoundland native Harold Druken, if he clears waivers, will also join St. John’s. Druken ahs two assists in 5 games with St. John’s this season.
