Alexander
Seluyanov skated on Lada’s first defensive pairing and the top power play
unit. Lada’s Gutov-Grigorenko- Buturlin line looked very sharp
and threatened CSKA’s net on many occasions. Grigorenko had a few great
moments – including a shorthanded breakaway early on. Washington Capitals
prospect Alexander Semin had some great chances and logged some ice time
playing short handed. On CSKA’s side 2003 NHL Entry Draft defensive prospect
Dmitri Kosmachev showed off his strong shot a couple of times. 2003 NHL
Entry Draft prospect Nikolai Zherdev had an active second period, but was
still kept off the boards.

Prospect Notes: Calgary Flames prospect Andrei Taratukhin and Washington’s prospect Artem Ternavsky got into a scuffle early on, but no penalties were called. Montreal Canadiens prospect Alexander Perezhogin scored the first goal by going all two zones through all five Sibir players on the blocker side. He scored his second one in overtime, winning the game with a nice shot to the top shelf.
