He had a couple of great saves including one in the third period against Philadelphia Flyers prospect Alexander Drozdetsky, where he did a split and got the puck next to the post.

Super League Tour 45

Molot Prikamye vs. SKA St.Petersburg 0:1

February 18th, 2003, Perm

Goals: 0:1 Gorbushin 5 (39.26).

Prospect Notes: Chicago Blackhawks prospect Sergei Shikhanov had a couple of good chances. He has really come around lately, but his efforts weren’t enough to get Molot on the boards and out of the basement.

Soviet Wings vs. Amur Khabarovsk 1:1

February 18th, 2003, Moscow

Goals: 1:0 Salnikov 5 (Rakhmatulin, Ivanov, 15.56), 1:1 Krivokrasov 16 (Pokotilo, Ustyugov, 49.27).

Mechel Chelyabinsk vs. CSKA Moscow 0:3

February 18th, 2003, Chelyabinsk

Goals: 0:1 Baranov 6 (Leschev, Zherdev, 31.26), 0:2 Gorbunov 4 (31.57), 0:3 Mozyakin 9 (34.04, ps.).

The first goal was scored by Philadelphia Flyers prospect Konstantin Baranov, who put the rebound off Nikolai Zherdev’s shot. The second goal was scored by New York Islanders prospect Vladimir Gorbunov, just 30 seconds after the first goal. He ended up in front of Mechel’s net “unattended” along with Shkotov and put the puck in the five hole of Mechel’s goalie. St. Louis Blues prospect Alexei Shkotov skated on CSKA’s second line, along side of Gorbunov.

Spartak Moscw vs. Sibir Novosibirsk 2:0

February 18th, 2003, Moscow

Andrei Medvedev. Photo from Ves Hokkei (http://www.hockeynewsonline.com)Prospect Notes: The hero of the game was Calargary Flames prospect Andrei Medvedev, who earned a shutout in his first start in quite a while.   The Filatov – Upper (New York Islanders) – Bezrukov (Tampa Bay) continued to be Spartak’s sword.  The line combined for the team’s both goals and played solid defensively.

Lada Togliatti vs. Dynamo Moscow 2:0

February 18th, 2003, Togliatti

Goals: 1:0 Semin 6 (Nesterov, 9.19), 2:0 Cierny 5 (Kazionov, 33.26).

Prospect Notes: Los Angeles Kings goaltending prospect Alexei Volkov made his third start in a row, trying to build on the two previous shutouts for Dynamo. He took the loss, though it can’t be said that he played badly.  Just as rare was Tampa Bay prospect Dmitri Kazionov’s appearance in Lada’s lineup, which was missing Detroit Red Wings prospect Igor Grigorenko on the top line. Kazionov played on the first line and had a great chance in the first period, but failed to beat Volkov, who apparently sat on the puck.  Kazionov did get on the board midway through the second period, assisting on Cierny’s stinger from almost the blue line. Let’s hope it is a start of a new beginning for these guys. Washington Capitals prospect Alexander Semin scored Lada’s first goal. The game just wasn’t going Dynamo’s way – Ovechkin hit the goal post, Minnesota’s prospect Oleg Orekhovsky broke his stick in a middle of a scoring drive.

Avangard Omsk vs. Salavat Yulayev 2:1

February 18th, 2003, Omsk

Prospect Notes: An other scoring streak? It may be back to that again, as Dallas Stars prospect Artem Chernov scored his _ of the season while playing on Avangard’s _ line with the Czechs Patera and Vlasak.  He was knocked down in front of the goalie, but managed to slide the puck underneath the goalie while falling to the ice.  Artem showed off his strong shot a couple of more times, but without a result.
