Update Of Boston Bruin Prospects 16-20 At Third Quarter Point Of The Season

By Bob Willwerth

Defenseman Zdenek Kutlak

Bos. Bruins GP 4 G 1 A 0 PTS 1 PIM 0

Pro. Bruins GP 59 G 3 A 10 PTS 13 PIM 44

Zdenek is having a solid year and quarter for Providence . He was called up to the Boston Bruins and scored his first NHL goal . Zdenek played solid defense for Boston but was returned to Providence when injuries healed and Ian Moran and Dan McGillis joined Boston .

Defenseman Kevin Dalman

Pro. Bruins GP 64 G 2 A 16 PTS 18 PIM 53

Having a positive rookie season , Kevin recently scored his first 2 professional goals . Still has some improving to do before given serious consideration for a NHL roster spot . Kevin must overcome his size disadvantage , however , Kevin led all OHL defensemen in scoring for 2 years .

Goalie Matti Kaltiainen

Boston College GP 28 GAA 2.33 W 17 L 8 T 3 SV% .897

An interesting season by Matti playing for Boston College . Having seen the Finnish import play several times Matti at times looks like a top prospect and other times an AHL journeyman . The Boston College team is very strong and Matti does not have to carry the team . Matti is a sophmore and has time to refine his game .

Forward Dmitri Utkin

Lokomotiv Yaroslavl GP 4 G 0 A 1 PTS 1 PIM 0

The smallish forward started the year in the super league but was demoted early in the season . Still he is years away from training camp . Making the super league out of camp is a fine accomplishment for an 18 year old . Dmitri appears to be a good late draft pick .

Forward Yan Stastny

U. of Notre Dame GP 38 G 14 A 9 PTS 23 PIM 42

The son of former NHL great Peter is having a solid year . The Bruins hope his bloodlines appear and he becomes a true prospect . Yan started his carreer with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL and moved onto Notre Dame . The Bruins think he is a late bloomer and has good potential .
