Thrashers Prospect Assignments: 2002-03 and 2003-04

This is the time of year when GM Don Waddell calls up prospects to the big show, tries to determine the extent of their development and makes “back of the envelope” guesses at who can compete for a roster spot next fall and where each prospect is best suited to play. We at Hockey’s Future can do the same. Below is an accounting of where each prospect played this year, and a back of the envelope guess at where they will likely be in 2003-04. Players are listed in groups, first pro, then juniors, European, and college players. Pro players are listed in rough order of how much time they saw with the big club this year.

Notation: When two levels are listed for a player, the one listed first is where the player spent or will likely spend most of his time. The plusses and minuses indicate brief call-ups or send-downs. For instance, Zdenek Blatny played most of the year in the AHL, but was called up to the NHL briefly, therefore his level was AHL+ for the year.
