Final Update Of Boston Bruin Prospects 11-15

By Bob Willwerth

11 KRIS VERNARSKI FORWARD

Bos. Bruins GP 14 G 1 A 0 PTS 1 PIM 2

Pro. Bruins GP 65 G 12 A 15 PTS 27 PIM 49

A good skating center with good size when drafted was considered a 2 or 3 year project . Kris scored better than expected early in the season and was promoted to Boston . Kris filled in on the third and fourth line and scored a goal on a pretty one timer . When injured players returned Kris was send back to Providence where his scoring touch didn’t return .

A checking forward by trade in junior Kris has a place in the NHL . With his size and skating ability Kris should be a contributor on a third or fourth line .

12 BRETT NOWAK FORWARD

Harvard University GP 12 A 29 PTS 41 PIM 57

Brett attended training camp with the Bruins before returning to Harvard for his senior season . Camp went well . Brett had a solid season even though he was over shadowed by Ranger prospect Dominic Moore . Brett was named to the second ALL IVY team and was second in team assists . Didn’t sign with Boston at seasons end as expected but Boston seems to interested .

13 VLADSLAV EVSEEV FORWARD

Moscow Dynamo GP 19 G 1 A 1 PTS 2 PIM 2

Vlad finished the season in the Russian Super League after starting in junior . Vlad made the jump to the Moscow Dynamo playing on the fourth line but at what cost ? Would Vlad have been better off staying in junior for a season and honing his skills , getting greater ice time ? However , it should be noted playing in the RSL is a good accomplishment . Probably will spend more time playing in Russia .

14 JAN KUBISTA FORWARD

HC Pardubice Jr. G 31 G 15 A 10 PTS 25 PIM 40

HC Hradec Kralove 1 League G 2 G O A O PTS O PIM O

Another prospect Boston would like to sign during the off season . Boston would like to play Jan in Providence for a season or 2 . Had a good rookie training camp for Boston and returned to the Czech Junior League where he played well . He was promoted to the top Czech Extra League and eventually to the 1 League , also may have been better off staying in junior .

15 ANDREW ALBERTS DEFENSE

Boston College GP 39 G 6 A 16 PTS 22 PIM 60

Will play on a great Boston College team that returns virtually every player from 2002/03 if he returns to college . Andrew had a fine season for Boston College . A big and tough defenseman who has good offensive skills Andrew played in all situations . He has improved his skating and has a good one time slap shot from the point . A physical defenseman who uses his size to advantage Andrew projects to a 3-6 defenseman .
