Red Wings Report: Prospects Notes
Written by: Zoran Manojlovic on 04/25/2003 ![]()
.. Andreas Jämtin has signed a contract with HV 71 (the team where fellow Red Wings prospect Stefan Liv is playing). This will give him the oppertunity to play in the Eliteleague after a one year stint in Superallsvenskan. Andreas was one of the best players on the team during the season and was also voted to the all star team as the best right winger on the team by the coaches on the AIK team.
.. Johan Berggren has had a solid season playing for Sunne in the 3rd-tier league. He has been playing on the third defensive paring getting a solid amount of ice-time which has resulted in two tournaments with the junior national team. He migt be looking for a new team for the next season.
.. Jimmie Svensson , the 2000 draft pick has been re-signed by Malmö RedHawks and will play in the Eliteleague next year after a year in Allsvenskan where he was one of the better players on the team.
.. Russian sensation Igor Grigorenko is going to play on a line with fellow Red Wing star, Pavel Datsyuk and long time junior national team "kamrat" Ilya Kovalchuk at the WC that starts tommorow in Finland. This line could be one of the most exciting to watch at the WC with all the speed, skill and young enthusiasm that it brings to the rink.
.. Niklas Kronwall is probably going to the WC as the 7th or 8th defenseman and won`t see much ice-time but it will still be a valuable lesson for the 22 year old defenseman who will most likey join Detroit for the next season.
.. Jiri Hudler is the 13th forward on a strong Czech team. he has been hampered by injuries lately but will hopefully get some ice-time during the WC.
Notes: One person who was especially sad when the Detroit Red Wings were dropped out of the playoffs was the 2001 3rd pick, Drew MacIntyre . He was supposed to join the team for the 5th game in Detroit. He was probably going to get some practices with the team but Detroit was knocked out before that could happen.
