Alexander Radulov is the seventh ranked 2004 eligible European skater by Central Scouting in their mid-term rankings. The 6’1” 172-pound forward is playing for THK TVER of the Russian 2 League this season. He played on the winning Russian team in the recent U-18 tournament in Minsk.

Hockey’s Future spoke with him briefly after the final game of the tournament.

HF: How do you think you played in the tournament?
AR: We all played very well. I just love our team and I want to say to everyone THANK YOU. It’s something special, words can’t express what I feel right now.

HF: Do you have any expectations for yourself in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft?
AR: I wish that all our players will be in the top 30 but it is hardly possible. I wish that good NHL teams would draft all our players. It’s very important for me to be in the first three rounds and then anything will be in my hands. I’ll do my best.

HF: How would you describe yourself as a player?
AR: I can beat defenders one by one and have good playmaking skills.

HF: Do you have a favorite player?
AR: I like such players as Ilya Kovalchuk, Sergei Fedorov and my old brother Igor Radulov. I have a dream to play someday with my brother on the same line in the NHL.

HF: What aspect of your game do you feel you need to work most on?
AR: I need to improve my defensive game. My offense is good.

HF: What a kind of guy are you off the ice and what do you do in your spare time?
AR: I’m very emotional person. I like to spend my spare time with my girlfriend. Often I go to the hockey games and watch how other teams are playing. I like to play billiards and bowling. But I have not so much spare time. It’s always games or training. But it’s the life of an athlete.

HF: How do you prepare before a game?
AR: I have my secrets and I can’t talk about them. The only thing I can say that I do all the same way as I did before the win. This time before final game against Team USA I did all the same way as I did in the semifinal game that we’ve won. I believe in my good luck charm and always try to do all the right way.
