Bloodlines may or may not make a difference in hockey, but the New York Islanders might think so as they used the fourth overall selection at the 2012 NHL Draft on Edmonton Oil Kings defenseman Griffin Reinhart.

Griffin is the son of former star NHL defenseman Paul Reinhart.  And while his style of play may not exactly match that of his father, the younger Reinhart certainly has a chance to equal or even surpass the elder Reinhart's career once Griffin arrives in the NHL.

Reinhart rose to prominence this season when he and his Oil Kings teammates marched through the WHL playoffs to win the league championship as well as a berth in the Memorial Cup tournament.  While the Oil Kings didn't fulfill their goal of a CHL championship, the tournament served as a further showcase of Reinhart's abilities which likely led to his high draft position.

Reinhart spoke with the media following his selection at the NHL Draft.
