Players taking part in the 2012 CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game will be under the scrutiny of scores of NHL scouts and GM's that will be in attendance. But one player may draw the attention of these interested observers more so than others, that player being defenseman Seth Jones.
Jones, who plays for the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL, is considered a potential first overall pick for the 2013 NHL Draft. And, while it is probably too early to make this type of lofty prediction, Jones has done enough in his young career to deserve that type of attention.
But being under the microscope is something that is not foreign to Jones since his father, Ronald “Popeye” Jones, spent 11 years in the NBA. The younger Jones was drawn to hockey during his father's tenure with the Denver Nuggets. Seth eventually joined USA Hockey's National Team Development Program where he honed his skills to become a top NHL prospect.
Jones met with the media prior to the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game being held at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY.
