It is unlikely that a quick scan of the rosters for the 2012 CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game by the average observer would have produced much more than a shrug when coming across the name, Ryan Fitzgerald.

But the plucky forward hailing from the EJHL made sure that those observers, especially those charged with scouting hockey talent for the NHL Draft, don't forget his name when it comes time to put together their list of must-see prospects. Fitzgerald earned MVP honors in this inaugural, U.S.-based prospect game after tallying three assists in Team McClanahan's 5-2 win over Team Housley on Saturday night.

The Fitzgerald name is not unknown in NHL circles since Ryan's father, Tom, had a long playing career in the NHL.  The elder Fitzgerald is now the Assistant to the General Manager for the Pittsburgh Penguins, a position that may put the father in the position of judging the merits of his son's talent when the 2013 NHL Draft takes place next June.

Ryan Fitzgerald spoke to the media following his MVP performance at the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game, some of which is captured in this HF video.
