In four games on the road, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles forward William Carrier was one of the key contributors of the team, which collected 4 points out of a possible 8 during their trip to the Abitibi. He registered 8 points this week including 4 goals, bringing his streak to 8 consecutive games with at least one point. Carrier, the Screaming Eagles’ 4th round pick of 2010, has collected 16 points in 9 games this season, bringing him 1 point shy of the League leader, Mikhail Grigorenko of the Quebec Remparts who has 17 points. Carrier scored both goals on Wednesday in a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, earning him the 3rd star of the game. Friday, in a 4-3 win against the Huskies he scored his team’s first goal, tying up the score 1-1 in the 1st period. Saturday, he added 2 points in a 5-3 victory against the Val-d’Or Foreurs and was named the first star of the game while on Sunday in a loss against the same team he registeres a +/- of +1, contributing 3 assists on the 3 goals scored by his teammate Bronson Beaton.
Jonathan Drouin, the Halifax Mooseheads forward, scored 7 points this week. Tuesday in a 6-2 win against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, he earned the 2nd star of the game with 2 points. In Friday’s game, his team won 4-3 against the President Cup defending champions Saint John Sea Dogs. Drouin was selected as the first star of the game with 2 points and 6 shots on goal. Saturday, in a crushing 11-2 win against the Sea Dogs, he was awarded the 2nd star of the game for his 3 point effort and +/- of +4; this was his 5th game of 2 points or more this season.
Chicoutimi Sagueneens goaltender Francis Desrosiers captured the 3rd star of the week. He allowed only 4 goals in 3 games, while his team only notched three goals past opposing goaltenders in the same period. He maintained a save percentage of .959 and a goals-against-average of 1.35. Tuesday, the Quebec Remparts, undefeated in 4 games at the time, took 2 points away from the Sagueneens in a 2-1 win in which Desrosiers was sufficiently impressive to snatch the 2nd star. During his team’s only win this week, he shutout the Moncton Wildcats on Friday in a game that ended 1-0. He was named the 2nd star of the game as he collected his first shutout win in the QMJHL. Finally, on Saturday, his 38 saves earned him the 1st star of the game during a 2-1 loss against the Titan.
