Devils CHL prospects update

Josh Disher, G, Erie Otters (OHL)
HT: 6’1 WT: 171lbs DOB: 06-24-1985 Draft: 2004 (6th round, 185th overall)
Disher attended New Jersey Devils training camp, and
was offered a contract by the team, but declined a one-year AHL/ECHL contract and an
assignment to the ECHL's Augusta (Ga.) Lynx. This could be his last chance to
prove his worth to the Devils as he can become a free agent after this season if
not signed before next June. So far this season, Disher has won six games,
compiled 3.62 goal against and .903 save percentage after nine games. The
highlights of Disher’s season so far was a 38-save, first star performance in
a 5-2 Erie victory over Brampton in October and 47-save performance in a 4-3
loss to Kitchener in November.

Patrick Davis, LW, Kitchener Rangers (OHL)
HT: 6’2 WT: 210lbs DOB: 12-28-1986 Draft: 2005 (4th round, 99th overall)
Davis returned to Kitchener for his third season with
the Rangers and so far, has been off to a great start. Through 15 games, he has
10 goals, good for second on the team behind Red Wings prospect Evan McGrath.
His -8 rating is proof that Davis still needs to work on ironing out some
deficiencies in his defensive zone play. Though his play has slowed a little as
of late, the Devils have to be pleased with their 2005 third round draft pick
early on in the OHL season. He has shown a little versatility by playing at
center the last little while. His best game so far this season saw him collect 2
goals and 1 assist and +3 rating in the Rangers opening night 9-2 victory over
Windsor.

Mark Fraser, D, Kitchener Rangers (OHL)
HT: 6’3 WT: 206lbs DOB: 09-28-1986 Draft: 2005 (3rd round, 84th overall)
With star Mike Richards graduating to the NHL,
the Kitchener Rangers named a new captain for the 2005-06 season and the honor
was given to Fraser, quite an accomplishment for a guy only going into his
second season in the OHL. Through 15 games, Fraser has been steady, yet
unspectacular for the Rangers, who currently sit in last place in their
division. Fraser has been held off the score sheet, but his 50 PIM’s show that
he is willing to stick up for his teammates. With the Devils not having much in
terms of defensive prospects in the organization, Fraser could really catapult
up the Devils prospect ladder with a strong season and Kitchener.

Sean Zimmerman, D, Spokane Chiefs (WHL)
HT: 6’2 WT: 208lbs DOB: 05-24-1987 Draft: 2005 (6th round, 170th overall)
Zimmerman returned to his hometown Spokane Chiefs for his
third WHL season, and so far this season, has recorded three points and nine
PIM’s and a +1 rating through 16 games. Of note is that Zimmerman has dropped
12 lbs since being drafted by the Devils, and as a result is in the best shape
of his young career. Like fellow Devils prospect Mark Fraser, Zimmerman has a
chance to make an early impact in an organization that lacks quality defense
prospects.
