RISING
Cory
Emmerton,
C
--
Kingston
(OHL)
Height:
6'0 Weight:
181
The rookie sensation from the Kingston Frontenacs was projected to be a
solid two-way player, but he has jumped out quickly and is assembling great
offensive stats. He has displayed excellent vision and a tricky stick that has
allowed him to carry some of the scoring load for the Frontenacs. His continual
improvement has been in all facets of the game and as a result, he continues to
rocket up our charts for the 2006 Draft.
Evan
Fuller, C
-- Prince George (WHL)
Height:
6’1 Weight: 196
Fuller has had a great start to the
year. He does it all: kills
penalties, power play, and doesn’t shy away from a good fight. He came into camp in great shape and ready to play. Every year
someone comes out of the woodwork resulting in a surprise pick.
Fuller is this year’s version. He continues to get better on a nightly basis.
Fuller is a very well-rounded forward who plays in both ends of the rink and
possesses the unteachable talent of leadership. he was Prince George's third
round pick,
44th overall, in 2003 Bantam Draft.
Matthew
McCue, D
--
Spokane (WHL)
Height: 6'5 Weight: 208
McCue
is a big, strong defenseman who is rugged and capable of playing a physical
style of game. He will not hesitate to drop the gloves to settle a score
or stick up for a teammate. He has the size and strength to dominate in the
corners and along the walls.
Ivan
Vishnevsky, D
--
Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL)
Height:
5'11.5 Weight: 178
This slick mobile blue-liner has emerged as a legitimate first-round
candidate for the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. The team that selects him will do so with
one thing in mind – to generate offense. Vishnevsky has the kind of skills
that would translate well in the new NHL landscape. He makes superb outlet
passes and has terrific vision and puckhandling skills. He also has perhaps the
best speed and footwork of any defender in this year's draft. Granted, he's no
pillar of strength in his own zone, but he's lethal on the power play. Has an excellent
one-timer and can carry the mail and create.
FALLING
Ryan McInerney,
C
-- Sault Ste. Marie
Height:
5'10 Weight: 190
After a mediocre rookie season with the Soo Greyhounds and
a disappointing U- 17 Championship in Lethbridge, McInerney put a tremendous
amount of time into the gym and came to training camp in fantastic condition.
His start to the season was very impressive and he had shown more desire to play
in traffic and get his nose dirty. Then on October 5th, he went home
because “he had lost his passion to play the game.” At ISS,
we are very concerned about players who leave their teams and we are doubly
concerned when a player indicates that he lost his passion.
Peter-James
Corsi,
C
--
Val d'Or Foreurs (QMJHL)
Height:
5'10.5
Weight: 175
Corsi
was the Foreurs’ first-round pick, seventh overall, in the 2004 QMJHL draft. He’s been a
major disappointment this season with only 7 points in 16 games. He's a shifty player,
showed good patience with puck, but is not the biggest player, and needs to work on
strength. He doesn't look like an NHL prospect at this time.
Dany Masse, C -- Val d'Or Foreurs (QMJHL)
Height:
5'10
Weight: 185
Masse
is not
the biggest, most skilled or the fastest player, but he is smart with good hockey
sense. He doesn't look like a NHL prospect
at this time. He would need to add
another gear, add size or a
combination of both to receive some
consideration. Masse was Val d'Or's second round pick, 23rd Overall in 2004
QMJHL draft.
