Team USA defenseman Mike Reilly may not be the most heralded defender among the group that the USA has iced at the 2013 World Junior Championship, but he has played like he belongs with a defensive group that has been the best of any country at this WJC.
Reilly, a Columbus Blue Jackets prospect playing for the University of Minnesota, has been a solid defender so far for Team USA. While he is billed more as an offensively oriented defender, he has played more of an all-around game at this tournament.
In six games for Team USA, Reilly has notched one goal (which was a game-winner) and two assists to go along with a +4 rating. he has been similarly productive during his freshman season at Minnesota, scoring two goals and adding eight assists in 17 NCAA games.
Reilly spoke with Hockey's Future following the USA's win over Canada in the WJC semi-finals.
