Gajewski named OHL Player of the Week

The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds’ goaltender Kyle Gajewski is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday March 5 after allowing just one goal in three starts last week. The 18-year-old native of London posted a 3-0-0 record, along with a 0.33 goals against average and .987 save percentage.

Gajewski gave up one goal in a 4-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit on March 1 and then posted back-to-back shutouts against the Sudbury Wolves on March 3 and Plymouth Whalers on March 5. He made 21 saves against Sudbury and 32 saves against Plymouth for his third shutout of the season. Gajewski was named first star in both shutout performances.

Gajewski improved his season record to 27-21-3-4 and helped the Greyhounds move to within four points of clinching a playoff berth. Gajewski also has a 2.81 goals against average and .905 save percentage in 59 games this season.
