TRANSACTIONS COMPLETED PRIOR TO NHL TRADING DEADLINE

NEW YORK (March 9, 2006) — NHL clubs made a record 25 trades, involving 40 players, between 9 a.m., ET, today and the 3 p.m., ET, trading deadline. The number of trades eclipses the previous trading deadline high of 24, set in 2003, while the number of players involved ranks second all-time to the 46 in 2003. Following is a list of the transactions:

Anaheim traded D Keith Carney and D Juha Alen to Vancouver for the NY Islanders’ 2nd-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft (previously acquired) and D Brett Skinner.

Anaheim traded D Sandis Ozolinsh to NY Rangers for San Jose’s 3rd-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft (previously acquired).

Boston traded LW Sergei Samsonov to Edmonton for C Marty Reasoner, C Yan Stastny and Edmonton’s 2nd-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Buffalo traded G Mika Noronen to Vancouver for Vancouver’s 2nd-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Calgary traded C Jason Wiemer to New Jersey for the later of New Jersey’s 4th-round pick or Vancouver’s 4th-round pick (previously acquired) in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Chicago traded C Tyler Arnason to Ottawa for RW Brandon Bochenski and Ottawa’s 2nd-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Chicago traded C Jim Dowd to Colorado for Colorado’s 4th-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Chicago traded D Todd Simpson to Montreal for Montreal’s 6th-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Detroit traded D Jamie Rivers to Phoenix for Phoenix’s 7th-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Florida traded C Petr Taticek to Pittsburgh for D Ric Jackman.

Los Angeles traded C Yanick Lehoux to Phoenix for RW Tim Jackman.

Minnesota traded D Willie Mitchell and its 2nd-round pick in the 2007 Entry Draft to Dallas for D Martin Skoula and D Shawn Belle.

New Jersey traded D Sean Brown to Vancouver for Vancouver’s 4th-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

NY Islanders traded D Brad Lukowich to New Jersey for New Jersey’s 3rd-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

NY Islanders traded LW Oleg Kvasha and a conditional 5th-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft to Phoenix for Phoenix’s 3rd-round pick in 2006 and a conditional 5th-round pick in 2007.

Phoenix traded D Denis Gauthier to Philadelphia for LW Josh Gratton, Florida’s 2nd-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft (previously acquired) and Tampa Bay’s 2nd-round pick in 2006 (previously acquired).

Phoenix traded D Sean O’Donnell to Anaheim for C Joel Perreault.

Phoenix traded C Jamie Lundmark to Calgary for Calgary’s 4th-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Pittsburgh traded RW Mark Recchi to Carolina for LW Niklas Nordgren, C Krystofer Kolanos and Carolina’s 2nd-round pick in the 2007 Entry Draft.

Pittsburgh traded D Cory Cross to Detroit for Detroit’s 4th-round pick in the 2007 Entry Draft.

St. Louis traded D Eric Weinrich to Vancouver for D Tomas Mojzis and the higher of Vancouver’s 3rd-round pick or Anaheim’s 3rd-round round pick (previously acquired) in the 2006 Entry Draft.

San Jose traded RW Niko Dimitrakos to Philadelphia for Philadelphia’s 3rd-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Vancouver traded D Steve McCarthy to Atlanta for a conditional pick in the 2007 Entry Draft.

Washington traded F Jeff Friesen to Anaheim for Anaheim’s 2nd-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Washington traded D Brendan Witt to Nashville for C Kris Beech and Nashville’s 1st-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

There also were three waiver transactions:



Pittsburgh claimed C Andy Hilbert from Chicago.

Ottawa claimed G Mike Morrison from Edmonton.

Washington claimed C Rico Fata from Atlanta.
