WHL announces opening dates for the 2006 WHL playoffs

The Western Hockey League announced the dates and game times for the 2006 WHL Playoff Conference Quarter-Final match-ups. The 2006 WHL Playoffs are presented by KalTire and Meyers Norris Penny (MNP).

The 2006 Western Hockey League Playoff format features the top four teams in each Division (B.C., Central, East, and U.S.) advancing to the WHL post-season.

The WHL Conference Quarter-Finals will feature the first place team against the fourth place team, and the second place team against the third place team based on regular season standings within each Division. The WHL Conference Semi-Finals will feature the four clubs who win their first round playoff series, advancing to the second round. The first place team will play the fourth place team, and the second place team will meet the third place team based on regular season standings within each Conference.

The WHL Conference Championship series will feature the two clubs, who win their second round playoff series, meeting with the home ice advantage going to the club with the most regular season points within each Conference. In the WHL Championship series, the two Conference Champions will meet with the home ice advantage going to the club with the most regular season points.

All Series in the 2006 WHL Playoffs are best-of-seven affairs.
