Slade named Greyhound WHL Player of the Week – 2006 playoff edition

Calgary – The Greyhound WHL Player of the Week is goaltender Dustin Slade of the Vancouver Giants. Slade earned player of the week honours by recording a 0.00 goals against average, 1.000 save percentage, 60 saves and back-to-back shutout road wins. Slade helped Vancouver eliminate the Everett Silvertips in four straight games of the WHL KALTIRE Western Conference Championship series and was named the WHL KALTIRE MVP of the series.

On Tuesday, April 25th, Slade recorded 32 saves a 5-0 shutout road win in Game 3 of the best-of-seven WHL KALTIRE Western Conference Championship series against the Everett Silvertips.

On Thursday, April 27th, Slade made 28 saves in a 5-0 shutout road win in Game 4 to eliminate the Silvertips and advance the Giants to the WHL Championship series for the first time in franchise history.

Slade, a 1986 born native of Penticton, British Columbia is a free agent.

Honourable mention goes to Joey Perricone of the Moose Jaw Warriors, who was named the MVP of the WHL MNP Eastern Conference Championship series.
