GIANTS COMPLETE SWEEP OF WARRIORS WITH 6-3 WIN – The Vancouver Giants have won their first-ever WHL Championship following a 6-3 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors in Game 4 of the WHL Championship Series on Tuesday, May 9th at the Moose Jaw Civic Centre.

The 6-3 victory gives the Giants a 4-0 sweep in the best-of-seven championship final versus the Warriors, and also ensures them a berth as the WHL representative at the 2006 MasterCard Memorial Cup tournament in Moncton, NB.

Jason Reese scored the game-winner for the Giants, who win their first WHL title since joining the League in 2001-02, while Mark Fistric, J.D. Watt, Mitch Bartley, Tim Kraus and Brett Parker also counted in the win. Dustin Slade stopped 23 of 26 shots to earn his 16th win of the post-season.

Dustin Boyd, Kenndal McArdle and Steven Gillen scored for the Warriors while Joey Perricone stopped 15 of 20 shots in the loss.

Giants forward Gilbert Brule was named the WHL Playoff MVP after scoring 16 goals and 30 points in 18 post-season games, including notching five goals and 12 points in the four-game series versus Moose Jaw.
