The 2006 QMJHL Entry Draft

CHARLOTTETOWN, Saturday, June 10, 2006 (QMJHL) – The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft got under way Saturday morning at 10:00 am. The Saint John Sea Dogs held the first overall selection, and they proceeded to pick highly regarded defenseman Yann Sauvé. The Rimouski Océanic chose Philippe Cornet second, while the Victoriaville Tigres selected Kevin Poulin third.

The Océanic made quite a splash during the first round as they acquired the Foreurs’, the Titan’s and the Mooseheads’ first overall selections (2006). They used those picks to select Patrice Cormier, Alexandre Néron and Jordan Caron.

The Rocket pleased the home crowd by selecting Notre-Dame Hounds center Chris Doyle at number four.
