Video: Czech Republic forward Patrik Zdrahal was the star in his country’s opening win over Latvia at the 2013 U18 World Junior Championship.

While Sudbury Wolves forward Dominik Kubalik was the top point-getter for the Czech Republic in their opening win over Latvia, forward Patrik Zdrahal was the goal-scoring star for the Czechs in that game.

Zdrahal netted the hat trick in his country's 7-0 win on Day 2 of the 2013 U18 World Junior Championship. He netted his three goals on five shots, with all three goals being scored on the power-play against the undisciplined Latvians.

The native of Ostrava spent the past couple of seasons in the HC Vitkovice organization in his home country, but opted to head to North America for the 2012-13 season to play for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL. In 64 games for that club, Zdrahal scored 20 goals and added 27 assists for 47 points.

After the win, Zdrahal talked to the media, including Hockey's Future, about his strong opening performance.
