The Czech Republic had a relatively easy time of things in their first game of the 2013 U18 World Junior Championship, but Game 2 was a different story as they dropped a hard-fought, 4-3 loss to the USA at the Bolshoy Ice Dome in Sochi, Russia.
The game began well enough for the Czechs as they were able to forge a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Adam Zboril and David Kampf. But Team USA came to life after their weak start, scoring the next three goals of the game to take a 3-2 lead. Tyler Motte with two goals and JT Compher were the goal-scorers for the USA.
Zboril scored his second goal of the game for the Czechs to tie it up at 3 less than a minute after the USA took the lead. But the USA's Evan Allen put his team back in the lead less than a minute after Zboril's goal to give the USA a 4-3 lead heading into the third period, a lead that would stand through the end of the game.
Czech Republic head coach Ludek Bukac spoke with the media, including Hockey's Future, following his team's tough loss to the USA.
