Attack Welcomes Trevor Lewis and David Kolomatis

Owen Sound Attack General Manager Michael Futa is proud to announce the signing of center Trevor Lewis (pictured) from Salt Lake City, Utah.

Lewis was selected 17th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings and was promptly signed to a 3 year entry level contract. At the time that he was drafted by the Kings he was committed to attend the University of Michigan for the 2006-2007 season.

The 19 year old played 56 regular season games for Des Moines of the United States Hockey League last season scoring 35 goals and adding 40 assists with 69 penalty minutes and a rating of Plus 25. He was also one of the league leaders on the penalty kill with 6 short handed goals. In 11 playoff games he tallied 3 goals (2 power play) and 13 assists with 16 penalty minutes. He chipped in with one game winning goal and was a Plus 9.

He also played on the USHL Viking Cup Team and in the 2006 USHL All-Star Game. He received three USHL Awards this past season being named Player of the Year, Forward of the Year, and Most Gentlemanly Player of the Year.

In the community, he made more than 20 visits to public schools to participate in a reading program. He also volunteered on Sunday afternoon’s to help 4 and 5 year old children learn how to skate.

Futa also announced the signing of defenseman David Kolomatis from Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

Kolomatis spent last season as a member of the US National Under 17 Team while previously being part of the New Jersey Rockets Junior B team. The Rockets are the same organization that developed current Owen Sound Attack defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti. Kolomatis had previously committed to the University of New Hampshire for the upcoming season before deciding to join the Attack and the Ontario Hockey League.

The US National Development Program describes Kolomatis as “Smooth skater, very light on his feet with excellent edging. Will jump into the play smartly when presented with the opportunity. Pretty good in his own end. Strong on his stick and uses leverage very well. Showed some slick moves scoring on penalty shot”.
