Hockey Canada Announces Roster Adjustments For National Junior Team Development

CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Hockey League, announced on Friday a total of five roster adjustments for the National Junior Team Development Camp (July 23-28, 2006) and the National Summer Under-18 Team Selection Camp (July 28-August 2, 2006) to be held at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary.

NATIONAL JUNIOR TEAM DEVELOPMENT CAMP ROSTER ADJUSTMENTS

PLAYER ADDITIONS

· Tyler Plante , Goaltender , Brandon, MB , Brandon, WHL , FLA ’05 (2, 32)

· Ryan Russell , Forward , Caroline, AB , Kootenay, WHL , NYR ’05 (7, 211)
UNABLE TO ATTEND DUE TO INJURY

· Devin Setoguchi , Forward , Taber, AB , Saskatoon, WHL , SJ ’05 (1, 8)

NOTE - Forward Ben Maxwell (North Vancouver, BC/Kootenay, WHL) was first designated to replace the injured Setoguchi (leg) but, due to a foot injury, was unable to accept this invitation. Hockey Canada’s Head Scout Jim Hammett then named Ryan Russell (Caroline, AB/ Kootenay, BC) to attend the National Junior Team Development Camp.

Canada’s National Junior Team Development Camp will include 45 players, including five (5) goaltenders, 16 defencemen and 24 forwards. The Camp will run from July 23-28, 2006 at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, AB.

NATIONAL SUMMER UNDER-18 TEAM SELECTION CAMP ROSTER ADJUSTMENTS

PLAYER ADDITION

· Travis Ehrhardt , Defenceman , Calgary, AB , Moose Jaw, WHL , Eligible 2007 NHL Draft

UNABLE TO ATTEND DUE TO INJURY

· Brendan Smith , Defenceman , Mimico, ON , St. Michael’s, OPJHL , Eligible 2007 NHL Draft

Canada’s National Summer Under-18 Selection Camp includes 44 players, including four (4) goaltenders, 16 defencemen and 24 forwards. The Camp will run from July 28-August 2, 2006 at the Father David Bauer Arena. At the conclusion of the camp, the coaching staff under Head Coach Cory Clouston, along with Hockey Canada Head Scout, Men’s National Teams, Jim Hammett will select 22 players to represent Canada at the 2006 Junior World Cup (Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup) in Slovakia/Czech Republic from August 8-12.
