Ben Maxwell Named WHL Player Of The Week

CALGARY, AB – The WHL Player of the Week is forward Ben Maxwell of the Kootenay Ice. Maxwell earned player of the week honours by scoring 3 goals and eight points including two power-play goals and a short-handed goal in just 3 games, helping the Ice to a perfect 3-and-0 record last week.

On Friday, October 6, Maxwell scored two goals and added three assist in a 8-4 win over the Hitmen in Calgary.

On Saturday, October 7, Maxwell had a pair of assists as the Ice returned home to down the Kelowna Rockets 5-1

On Sunday, October 8, Maxwell scored the insurance marker in the third period of Kootenay’s 3-1 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Maxwell, a 18-year-old native of North Vancouver, British Columbia was drafted in the 2nd round, 49th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Honourable mention goes to Mark Derlago of the Brandon Wheat Kings.
