BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, November 6, 2006 – Chicoutimi Saguenéens forward Alexandre Imbeault and Acadie-Bathurst Titan defenseman Mathieu Carle were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from October 30 to November 5.
In two games, Imbeault collected four goals, including a game-winner in overtime, and assisted on three others while maintaining a +3 (plus/minus) differential. The Saguenéens forward had a hand in seven of his team’s eleven goals this week. Moreover, he earned first star honors in both Chicoutimi wins. Since he was acquired from the Tigres on October 24, he has scored eight goals in five games. The Saguenéens begin a five game road trip on Wednesday as they visit the Rocket in PEI.
Jérôme Samson (2-6-8) of Moncton, Mathieu Perreault (3-4-7) of Acadie-Bathurst and David Perron (5-2-7) of Lewiston were also considered.
The defensive player of the week award goes to Titan defenseman Mathieu Carle. In three contests, all Acadie-Bathurst wins, the defender registered one goal and five assists, while maintaining a +4 (plus/minus) differential. His best showing of the week came in a game against the Victoriaville Tigres at home last Wednesday, in which he collected one goal – on a penalty shot – as well as three assists. Carle has now registered at least one point in each of his last thirteen games. The team is currently in the midst of a five game winning streak.
Defensemen Kristopher Letang (2-3-5; +3) of Val-d’Or and Jason Demers (0-3-3; +5) of Victoriaville, as well as goaltender Olivier Laliberté (2-0-0; 120 MIN; 1.50 GAA; .948 SAV %) of Gatineau were also considered.
