Calgary – The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Martin Hanzal of the Red Deer Rebels.
Hanzal earned player of the week honours by recording two goals and eight points, and a plus-3 rating in three games during the week of November 20th to 26th, leading the Rebels to a 2-1 record in that span.
On Wednesday, November 22nd, Hanzal picked up two assists, and boasted a plus-1 rating to lead the Rebels to a 3-2 victory over the Saskatoon Blades.
On Friday, November 24th, Hanzal scored the only goal for the Rebels in a 2-1 defeat in Prince Albert.
On Saturday, November 25th, Hanzal notched one goal and four assists, and boasted a plus-2 rating to lead the Rebels to a 5-1 win over the Broncos in Swift Current.
Hanzal, a 19-year-old product of Ceske Budejovice, CZE, was the Phoenix Coyotes’ first-round pick in the 2005 NHL draft.
Honourable mention goes to Derek Ryan of the Spokane Chiefs.
