CHL Press Release

Toronto, Ontario – Each month the Canadian Hockey League & NAPA Auto Parts will recognize the top draft eligible player for the upcoming 2007 NHL Entry Draft based on their play over the course of the month. Each winner will be recognized at a future home game and will be presented with a NAPA Auto Parts prize pack.

The Canadian Hockey League today announced the winners of the NAPA Draft Prospects of the Month for the month of December.

NAPA Draft Prospects of the Month

Western Hockey League

Brandon Sutter, Red Deer Rebels

Ontario Hockey League

Logan Couture, Ottawa 67’s

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

David Perron, Lewiston MAINEiacs

Brandon Sutter is taking his game to a new level this season and has helped the Rebels battle to a 21-11-3-4 record to give the club the third best record in the Eastern Conference. Sutter was on a mission in December with 19 points in just 11 games to help the club jump up the standings. Brandon was particularly impressive over the course of the last nine games of the month when he helped the Rebels pick up 14 of a possible 18 points to head into the New Year. Logan Couture of the Ottawa 67’s had 11 goals and 23 points in just 12 games during the month of December to lead the OHL in goals over the course of the month and finish second in points. Couture has become a dominant force in the OHL this season and if not for an injury earlier in the season would be amongst the league scoring leaders. David Perron had five goals and 12 points in 11 games during the month of December. The native of Sherbrooke, Quebec was named the QMJHL’s Rookie of the Month for the second consecutive month and is a big reason the MAINEiacs are currently the fourth ranked club in the country.
