Ondrej Pavelec is Named CHL ADT Goaltender of the Week

Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Ondrej Pavelec of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles is the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Sunday January 28, after posting a 2-1-0-0 record with a 0.67 goals against average, .979 save percentage and one shutout in three games.

Pavelec started the week with a First Star performance and 36 saves giving up one goal in a disappointing 1-0 loss to the Moncton Wildcats. Following that performance Pavelec had 26 saves in a 2-1 win over the QMJHL standings leaders, Lewiston MAINEiacs. The next night he finished the week with his third straight First Star performance with 32 saves and a shutout, again, against Lewiston and improved his season record to 2.87 goals against average and a .902 save percentage in 27 games.

Carey Price of the Tri-City Americans was the WHL Goaltender of the Week Nominee posting a 3-0-0 record stopping 93 of 98 shots he faced for a 1.67 GAA and a .949 SAV%. Michal Neuvirth of the Plymouth Whalers was the OHL goaltender of the Week posting 2-0-0 record, .987 SAV % and 0.500 GAA.
