The silver medalist USA squad competing at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament included a few bigger, more physical players than the American squad normally carries into the international tournaments. One of the grittier players from the American forward ranks competing at this tournament was center Keegan Iverson.
Iverson, who is from St. Louis Park, MN, picked up just one goal in five games at the Ivan Hlinka while adding four minutes in penalties. His lone goal was the game-winner in the 5-2 win over Slovakia.
The 2012-13 season was Iverson's first in the WHL, where he suited up for the Portland Winterhawks. In 47 regular season games for that club, Iverson scored six goals and added four assists for 10 points while also picking up 69 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 17 playoff games for the Winterhawks, picking up two assists along the way.
Iverson spoke with Hockey's Future at the Ivan Hlinka, an interview that is captured in this HF video.
