Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League announced today that Michael Grabner of the Spokane Chiefs is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday February 18, 2007 after scoring six goals in three games.
Grabner started the week by scoring a pair of goals in a 4-3 win over the Kamloops Blazers on February 14. He added a hat trick in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds on February 16 and wrapped up the week with a powerplay goal in a 6-3 loss to the Kootenay Ice on February 17. Grabner, a 19-year-old native of Villach, Austria, leads the Chiefs with 32 goals this season. He also has 12 assists for 44 points in 47 games.
Andrew Loverock of the Mississauga IceDogs was the OHL nominee after posting a 3-0-0-0 record with a 1.33 goals against average and .962 save percentage.
