RISING

Joakim Andersson / Sweden Jrs.
Position: Center       Height: 6.02     Weight: 198
We believe several teams are quietly hoping to steal him late in the first round. After his play at the Five Nations, it won't happen. A tremendous two-way player who is excellent in all three zones. He has developed into a very good face-off guy and has the ability to elevate his play in important situations.

Simon Hjalmarsson
/ Sweden-2
Position: RW         Height: 5.11     Weight: 161
Hjalmarsson was one of the best forwards at Five Nation '89 in Most, Czech Republic.  He can make something out of nothing. He competes on every shift and continues to improve in all aspects of his game. Hjalmarsson is a tireless skater with great offensive effort. Has quick hands.

Cory Syvret
/Guelph Storm (OHL)
Position: LD         Height: 6.03     Weight: 200
Syvret continues to impress since coming over from London. He works very hard at practice.  Played in all situations and has taken advantage of the opportunity and has been very impressive. He has good offensive instincts and his defensive game has become very respectable under the tutelage of coach Dave Barr.

Alex Grant / Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL)
Position: RD       Height: 6.02    Weight: 185
Grant is gaining more confidence as he matures as a hockey player. His game has improved as the season has gone on. His offensive game is starting to come around. Grant scored his 11th of the season, which adds to the team record of most goals scored by a d-man. Although not a physical presence for his size, Grant has showed a willingness to drop the gloves lately, and has handled himself well.

Jeremy Smith / Plymouth Whalers (OHL)
Position: G      Height: 5.11.5    Weight: 160
In a draft year with no big-name goalie prospects jumping out, Smith has emerged as ISS's top ranked goaltender for the 2007 draft. Smith has posted great results as of late, with only one regulation loss in his last 16 appearances dating back to early December.

Darryl Borden / Kingston Frontenacs (OHL)
Position: G         Height: 6.03    Weight:  200
A big goalie who takes up a lot of the net.  Struggled early in the season and then was hampered by injury. When on top of his game, he challenges shooters well. Playing with much more confidence lately with eight wins and one overtime loss in his last 12 starts.

Akim Aliu / Sudbury Wolves (OHL)
Position: C          Height: 6.02    Weight:  205
Aliu has the ability to dominate physically and control the play. Game after game he demonstrates that he can be an offensive threat and at the same time be an intimidating physical presence. For the second month in a row, Aliu finds himself rising in our rankings, as he continues to show more consistency in his play while keeping his discipline in check.

T.J. Brennan / St. John's Fog Devils (QMJHL)
Position: LD     Height: 6.00.5     Weight: 204
Brennan has been a key component of the Fog Devils' defensive corps as a rookie. Just keeps improving and rounding out his game. He can make the outlet pass and always looks for options with the puck. During the month of February, he scored seven goals and added four helpers in 11 games. Brennan has quietly blossomed into one of the top offensive rearguards in the QMJHL and has a promising future.

Matt Rust / USNTDP
Position: C    Height: 5.10     Weight: 180
He continues to improve in all aspects of his game. Rust is a pit-bull who puts 110 percent effort into every shift. He slips in under the radar while you're mesmerized watching the bigger-name U.S. talents. Knows his role and is effective in all three zones.

FALLING

John Negrin / Kootenay Ice (WHL)
Position: D            Height: 6.02    Weight: 195
One of the smoothest skaters among draft-eligible WHL D-men.  He has a powerful stride and good balance. Needs to develop more of a mean streak and would be more effective in own end. Plays behind four older quality d-men which takes away some ice time.  His smooth skating ability might entice some to overrate him. Still needs to be more consistent.

Anthony Peluso / Erie Otters (OHL)
Position: D           Height: 6.04     Weight: 232
Just OK at times. Lacks lateral quickness, has heavy feet, not bad north/south.  Rushes the puck whenever he has a chance.  Holds on too long at times, turning the puck over.  Doesn't have the mobility to recover when beaten.

Richard Greenop / Windsor Spitfires (OHL)
Position: RW       Height: 6.04      Weight: 213
Huge winger, plays the prototypical enforcer role for the Spitfires. Not a terrible skater and with some extra work, he will develop into a dependable skater. Teams looking to add size and a physical presence to their organization will consider him, despite the fact that he's played only 38 games.

Jim O'Brien / Minnesota (NCAA)
Position: C      Height: 6.02       Weight: 184
Simply hasn't stepped up as ISS expected. Plays on a very experienced Minnesota team filled with players already drafted to the NHL. Has 11 points so far this year with very little time on the PP. Does see time on PK. Needs to add muscle to frame to be able to compete for loose puck and in battles.

Andrew Engelage / Windsor Spitfires (OHL)
Position: G       Height: 6.05      Weight: 195
A tall lanky goalie. Overcommits at times, takes himself out of position. Needs to use his size to his advantage, goes down much too early. Size and agility will make him a possible mid- to late-round selection.
