Jeff Topilko Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League announced today that forward Jeff Topilko of the Brandon Wheat Kings is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday March 4, 2007 after scoring six goals and two assists for eight points in three games.

On Wednesday, Topilko scored the game winning goal in a 4-2 home ice victory over the Tri-City Americans and was named the game’s first star.  Friday night, he scored two goals, including the game winner and was named first star of the game and added an assist in a 4-0 road win over the Saskatoon Blades.  The next night, Topilko scored three goals, including the game winner and added an assist as the Wheat Kings clinched the East Division title with an 8-5 victory over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors.  He was also named the game’s first star for the third straight game. 

The 20-year old from Vegreville, Alberta is in his fifth season with the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Trevor Kell of the Sarnia Sting was the OHL nominee after scoring four goals and five assists in three games and Jakub Voracek of the Halifax Mooseheads was the QMJHL nominee after scoring three goals and three assists in two games.
