Tyson Sexsmith named ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Tyson Sexsmith of the Vancouver Giants is the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Sunday March 11, 2007 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record including two shutouts, along with a 0.33 goals against average and a 0.981 save percentage in that span.

On Wednesday, March 7th, Sexsmith stopped all 17 shots he faced to record his eighth shutout of the season as the Giants skated to a 4-0 road victory in Portland over the Winter Hawks.

On Friday, March 9th, Sexsmith stopped all 14 shots he faced to record his second consecutive shutout and his ninth of the season in an 8-0 victory over the Chilliwack Bruins in Vancouver.

On Saturday, February 10th, Sexsmith stopped 20 of 21 shots he faced to earn his 30th victory of the season as the Giants skated to a 4-1 win in Kelowna over the Rockets.

Sexsmith, a native of Priddis, AB, is in his second season in the WHL, and eligible for the 2007 NHL draft. He currently leads all WHL goaltenders in goals-against average with a 1.84 GAA in 49 games this season.

Michal Neuvirth of the Plymouth Whalers was the OHL nominee after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with a 1.000 goals against average and 0.971 save percentage while Mark Yetman of the Halifax Mooseheads was the QMJHL nominee after going 2-0-0-0 with a 1.50 goals against average and 0.942 save percentage in two games last week.

Each week the CHL recognizes the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week and will present the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Year Award to the CHL’s top netminder at the conclusion of the 2006-07 season.
