RISING:

Jakub Voracek, RW / Halifax Mooseheads
Height: 6.01.5    Weight:  191
Has been a force for Halifax since coming back from a less than spectacular World Juniors.  Dominates when he has the puck. He demonstrates a mastery of puck skills including stickhandling, passing and the ability to make plays. In the playoffs, Voracek has been absolutely phenomenal against the heavily favored Moncton Wildcats. Led his team to a seven-game series win. Thus, he has returned to the lofty height of No. 1 in our April rankings. Voracek occupied the top spot earlier in the season in our November and December rankings.

Logan MacMillan, C / Halifax Mooseheads
Height: 6.01    Weight:  172
This solid two-way forward has proven to scouts that he is the real deal. A player that earned his draft position as the year went on. MacMillan has been one of Halifax's best players down the stretch and has continued his strong play in the playoffs. He is gaining more confidence as he matures as a hockey player. His puck protection needs to improve and he has to get a little bit stronger, but that will come with maturity. Does everything asked of him.

Tyson Sexsmith, G / Vancouver Giants
Height: 5.10.5     Weight: 199
A pleasant surprise for ISS scouts has been the development of Sexsmith. After struggling early, he rebounded with a strong second half and will be expected to carry the load in the playoffs for the Giants. He has benefited by playing behind a very solid, experienced hockey club. However he's got the best goals-against average in the league and there's a reason for that. He's a big guy who takes away a lot of the net and he's composed.

Riley Nash,
C / Salmon Arm
Height: 6.00.5    Weight: 175
There is a strong feeling of comfort when a team considers drafting a player like Nash because you know what you're getting - a good, honest player willing to work hard and give a consistent effort every night. He fits the mold of a "late-bloomer" and with continued attention to small details he will continue to improve. Nash was a stellar performer for the Silverbacks, leading them in regular-season scoring with 84 points and also in the playoffs with a team-high 11 points. Is a potential prospect for Team Canada at the IIHF U-18 World Championship in Finland.

Cody Almond
, C / Kelowna Rockets
Height: 6.01.5      Weight: 199
Draft sleeper. Almond has been a pleasant surprise on a rebuilding Rockets team. He has shown he is capable of putting up numbers offensively and has started to pay closer attention to his defensive responsibilities.

Patrick White, C / Grand Rapids
Height: 6.00.5      Weight: 186
White impressed scouts with his strong performance at the recent Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament. Will finish the season playing for Tri-City in the USHL, and currently has 8 goals in just 12 games. He is very smart and patient with the puck, controls and stays with the puck very well through traffic. Nominated for the Mr. Hockey award. Has a lot of potential and can only get better. White will be joining the NTDP U18 squad for the World Championship in Finland.

FALLING:

Keven Veilleux, C / Victoriaville Tigers
Height: 6.04.5    Weight:  202
Simply hasn't stepped up as ISS expected. Needs to play with more intensity. Needs to compete along the wall and use his size to his advantage. Skating is just average due to slow first couple of steps - a tough player to contain once he gets moving. Has the size and skill to be a dominant forward, needs to use it on a more consistent basis.

Bryan Cameron, RW / Belleville Bulls (OHL)
Height: 5.10     Weight: 175
Cameron is a hard working two-way player. His pro upside is questionable and he may end up falling in the draft due to his below average size and his lack of a flashy wow factor.

Matt Smyth, RW / Brampton Battalion
Height: 5.10.5   Weight: 181
Has been invisible for the most part during the playoffs. Wouldn't get his nose dirty and wasn't willing to battle through checks. Showed very little drive or heart, lost too many battles. Didn't use his body at all, too many stick checks, just reaching at guys. Showed flashes of his speed, lacked intensity.  Has a hard shot needs to use it more.  Very disappointed in his play.

Kurt Mucha, G / Portland Winter Hawks
Height: 6.01     Weight: 175
Mucha has had a decent season. He played for a team that struggled this year. He will have to continue to work on his consistency between the pipes. When he plays well, then he will garner attention from scouts. However, when he struggles he loses his confidence and this is apparent in his game. Capable of being a good starter in the WHL, but has yet to prove he can deliver on a consistent basis.

Nicola Riopel, G / Moncton Wildcats
Height: 5.11.5    Weight: 162
Has been hot and cold, lately cold. In the playoffs against Halifax, to say he has struggled would be an understatement. Goes down early and looks small, Mooseheads were shooting high the whole series. On the positive side, there is a lot of natural ability to work with -- good glove, quick feet and athleticism.
