Marc Staal Named OHL Player of the Week

Toronto – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that defenceman Marc Staal of the Sudbury Wolves is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 29, 2007. The 20-year-old native of Thunder Bay recorded five assists in three playoff games during the Rogers Eastern Conference Championship Series.

On Monday, April 23rd Staal assisted on the game-winning goal, which led the Wolves to a 3-2 Game 4 overtime victory versus the Belleville Bulls. On Wednesday, April 25th Staal picked up two assists on Sudbury’s opening two goals leading the Wolves to a 4-1 Game 5 victory. On Friday, April 27th Staal had a pair of assists in a 4-3 triple overtime victory to close out the series for Sudbury 4-2.
