Lucic Named BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week

Calgary – The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Milan Lucic of the Vancouver Giants. Lucic earned player of the week honours by scoring one goal and five points in three playoff games, leading the Giants to the 2007 Kal Tire Western Conference Championship with a 4-1 best-of-seven series victory over the Prince George Cougars.

On Tuesday, April 24th, Lucic notched an assist as the visiting Giants defeated the Cougars 4-1 in Game 3 of the Kal Tire Western Conference Championship series.

On Wednesday, April 25th, Lucic notched an assist as the visiting Giants fell 3-2 in overtime to the Cougars in Game 4 of the best-of-seven series.

On Friday, April 27th, Lucic tallied a goal and two assists to pace the Giants to a 5-1 Game 5 victory over the visiting Cougars that captured the Giants their second consecutive Kal Tire Western Conference Championship. He was named the game’s 3rd star.

Lucic, an 18-year-old from Vancouver, B.C., was the Boston Bruins’ 2nd round pick (50th overall) at the 2006 NHL Draft.

The WHL has also nominated Tyson Sexsmith of the Vancouver Giants for the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week.
