Remparts sink Océanic in pre-season opener

RIVIÈRE-DU-LOUP, Thursday, August 16, 2007 – The pre-season schedule got under way yesterday in Rivière-du-Loup. In the lone scheduled match-up, the Quebec Remparts defeated the Rimouski Océanic 5-4 in front of 2,713 fans assembled at Centre Premier-Tech.

Marc-Olivier Vallerand and Sébastien Trudeau each scored one goal and added two helpers in the victory. Hubert Genest, Olivier Donais and Kenzie Sheppard also registered goals for the Remparts who managed to capitalize on three powerplay opportunities. Goaltender Mickael Audette was credited with the win after he came in relief of teammate Adrien Lemay midway through the second period.

Maxime Gratchev registered a hat-trick in the loss while defenseman Alexandre Néron was credited with the other Océanic goal.

Three games are scheduled tonight as the Cataractes face the Foreurs, the Tigers battle the Océanic and the Remparts renew their rivalry with the Saguenéens.
