Tavares named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Oshawa Generals forward John Tavares is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending September 23, 2007. Tavares recorded three goals and five assists for eight points in two games.

On Friday, September 21st, Tavares scored one goal and three assists for four points as he led the Generals to a 7-3 season opening victory over the Sudbury Wolves at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. Tavares was named first star of the game for his efforts. The following night, Tavares recorded two goals and two assists for four points as he guided the Generals to a 5-3 victory over the Belleville Bulls. Tavares was named the game’s first star.

Michal Repik of the Vancouver Giants was the WHL nominee after he scored two goals and six assists for eight points in two games. Brett Morrison of the PEI Rocket was the QMJHL nominee after he registered five goals and two assists for seven points in three games.
