Team Finland played a strong, 60-minute game and was able to overcome an equally strong goaltending performance by Denmark’s Kasper Krog to defeat the Danes by a 4-1 score at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship. Read more »

Despite keeping the score close for much of their game against Finland, Team Denmark was unable to earn their first point at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship after a 4-1 loss to the Finns. The loss sends the Danes into a Group B showdown on Monday with the Czech Republic that will likely decide which country will avoid the relegation round. Read more »

While Team USA could have taken their opponent, Team Latvia, lightly, they instead put on a consistent and impressive offensive display in a 12-1 win over Latvia on Sunday night at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship. Read more »

As it always is, the mantra for Team Latvia at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship is to avoid the relegation round. But talking about doing it has been easier than accomplishing that goal as Latvia find themselves winless after three games at this tournament, with their final match of the preliminary round coming later today against a Russian squad that has an overtime win in two games. After a somewhat sluggish 25 minutes of play in their faceoff with Canada at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship, the Czech Republic put forth a concerted but unsuccessful effort to overcome a 3-0 deficit, ultimately dropping a 3-1 decision at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
