The 2015 NHL Draft will go down as the NCAA’s most successful since 2003 while making history in the process. This year marked the first time in the history of the NHL Draft that three current collegians – that is those that played in the NCAA this past season – were taken in the top 10. Read more »

For the first time in franchise history, the Pittsburgh Penguins used all four of their picks to select European-born forwards at the 2015 NHL Draft. It was also the first time it selected all forwards since 1978, when the draft was still referred to as the “NHL Amateur Draft.” Read more »

After a big year for Slovakian junior hockey in which the World Junior Championship team beat Sweden to take bronze, followed by the U18 club defeating Sweden 3-1 to kick off the 2015 U18 World Championship before slipping out of the tournament in the first round of the playoffs, there were naturally several players of interest to NHL teams at the 2015 NHL Draft. The 2015 NHL Draft was an exciting weekend for Colorado Avalanche fans as they finally saw an ending to the Ryan O’Reilly saga. To top things off, the franchise walked out of the draft with a plethora of young talents to boost the strength of their prospect pool. Read more »

The QMJHL returned to being a most popular league amongst NHL scouts and executives this season, and that was proven at the 2015 NHL Draft. In total, 30 of the 211 picks at the draft were players who spent last season in the QMJHL, up from just 17 in the 2014 NHL Draft. Read more »
