While there is a fair amount of star power on Team USA's squad competing at the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship, the roster also sports an unheralded player or two that bring something other than offensive skills or imposing size. One such player is forward Ryan Hitchcock.

Sweden has iced another competitive team for this year's IIHF U18 World Championship. They tied for second in their group, two points behind Canada, and have opened the playoff round with a resounding 10-0 win over host country and archrival, Finland.

Team USA brought their usual complement of talented defensemen to the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship. One of those skilled defenders, Jack Glover, has provided the type of solid, two-way play that has been his stock in trade this season.

Although Russia suffered just one overtime loss in the preliminary round of the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship, their eight points only tied them for second with Sweden in Group A, two points behind Canada.

Two of Team USA's five wins at the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship have been shutouts. The first shutout, a 3-0 win over the Czech Republic, was posted by starting netminder Alex Nedeljkovic, while backup Edwin Minney got the win in a 7-0 victory over Denmark.
