History

After leaving the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL, David Van der Gulik would enroll at Boston University. In his four seasons with the Terriers the Abbotsford, B.C., native amassed 93 points (52G, 41A) in 141 NCAA games. David would also named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team in 2003.

2006-07: In his first professional hockey league season with the AHL’s Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, Van der Gulik put up some solid numbers. He was one of three players to dress in all 80 of the Knights games, as well as compiling the teams fourth highest point total, with 43 points (16G, 27A). David also finished the season with the AHL’s fourth highest and AHL Rookie best plus/minus rating, with an impressive +27.

2007-08: In his first season with Quad City (AHL), Van der Gulik appeared in all 80 games with the club. He finished the season with 42 points (19g+23a) and a +3 plus/minus rating.

 

 

Talent Analysis

Offensively oriented, the right winger is by no means tiny, but his size is something that he will have to overcome to play in the NHL. His two seasons in the AHL have made him stronger and a little grittier. He has always been an edgy, hard working forward.

 

Future

Somewhere between a third or fourth line option on the right wing.
