History
DeLory was the eighth overall selection in the 2004 OHL Draft from the York Simcoe Express where he played defense for the first time of his career. The 6’5 DeLory was a forward up to 2003-04.
2004-05: DeLory struggled to record points in his first season with the Generals, his second season at defense. He played in 61 games, but only recorded five points (one goal, four assists) and 82 PIM. His 82 PIM were second among Oshawa rookies, seventh most on the team overall.
2005-06: The giant defenseman made tremendous strides in his second season in the OHL. The durable big man led the team in games played with 67, and established himself as one of the team’s top defenseman in just his third year at the position. He recorded 32 points (six goals, 26 assists) and 136 PIM.
Drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 4th round, 98th overall, in 2006.
2007-08: Along with 154 penalty minutes, the former San Jose Sharks draft pick scored two goals and 20 assists in 54 games played.
2008-09: DeLory made his professional hockey debut in 2008-09 in the ECHL, but was then returned to junior. HF's November 2008 Q&A with DeLory.
2009-10: Assigned to the Central Hockey League.
Talent Analysis
Big bodied, strong, punishing defenseman, in the stay-at-home mold. He will need to improve his skating.
