History

2005-06: The top Swedish goaltender in the 2006 draft, Enroth came off a strong season with Södertälje’s junior team and was among the top goalies in April at the U18 WJC in April. He is by many considered the top goalie prospect from Sweden since Henrik Lundqvist.

2007-08: He put himself on the map at the 2008 World Junior Hockey Championships, posting a .905 save percentage and 2.33 GAA with his only loss coming at the hands of Canada in the finals.  He earned a nomination for rookie of the year in the Swedish Elitserien League following a strong performance with Södertälje SK, but 22-year-old Daniel Larsson (DET) bested him for the award. Enroth finished with 33 wins, 16 losses, including three shutouts and a .933 save percentage.

Talent Analysis

What he lacks in size, he makes up for in sound technique and quick reflexes.  He shows very good quickness, agility, and an excellent glove-side. Enroth is very consistent, and has shown the ability to carry his team in big games.  He is one of the elite young goaltending talents in the world, and one of the Top 50 overall prospects in the game.

Future

Although Buffalo has Ryan Miller signed for the next six seasons and veteran Patrick Lalime for the next two, Enroth may have a role with the Sabres as an insurance policy or trade bait.
