Talent Analysis
Maxim Sheviev is a sniper. He sees the ice well and usually plays the role of a finisher on a play. He knows his responsibilities well and is rarely caught out of position. Sheviev possesses a great slap shot – well aimed and with a sting. In the open ice, he tends to avoid contact, shying away from physical play. However, Sheviev possesses solid size at 6'0 and 178 pounds, and he does not hesitate to drive through the opposition towards the net. He works hard to get in position for the rebound in front of the net.
Future
Shevjev has carved out a niche as a shutdown role player over his last three seasons in Russia's High League He does not appear to factor into the Sabres future plans.
