History

2004-05: Tim Kennedy was a key factor in Sioux City’s quest for the Clark Cup this season. He co-led the Musketeers and finished tied for sixth in the league in scoring with 61 points (30 goals, 31 assists). His 30 goals and seven game-winning goals were both tied for first in the league. While Kennedy was very good throughout the season, he was even better in post-season play. He led the league in scoring in the Clark Cup playoffs with 17 points (6 goals, 11 assists). Kennedy earned Player of the Week honors for the week ending April 6th after posting five points, including a hat trick versus Sioux Falls. His stellar season earned him a spot on the All-USHL Second Team. Kennedy, a Michigan State University recruit, was also a member of Team USHL in the 2005 USHL Prospects/All-Star game. At the team’s season-ending awards, Kennedy took home the team’s Most Valuable Player award.

181st overall in 2005 by Washington, immediately traded to Buffalo.

A hand injury derailed him in his first season as a Spartan.

2007-08: Kennedy finished tied for fifth in CCHA scoring with 20 goals and 23 assists in 42 games with Michigan State University.

Talent Analysis

Kennedy previously projected as a quality defensive forward, and he has continued to develop at Michigan State.  His defensive zone play and willingness to take the body have remained strengths, and he showed good leadership ability with his college team.  Though not a pure scorer, he is an opportunistic and smart offensive player, with good fundamentals.

Future

Kennedy agreed to a two-year entry level contract with the Sabres, and will start in Portland, with a shot to work his way into the Buffalo lineup as he adjusts to the higher level of competition.  A South Buffalo native, he will be closely watched as a fan favorite.
