Talent Analysis

Coming out of the Junior A ranks where he received far less attention or scrutiny than his CHL counterparts, Hyman has the feel of a sleeper pick who has a chance to be a very special player for the Panthers. While he possesses good hockey smarts, Hyman also has size, skill and a willingness to use his frame to drive to the net to create scoring opportunities or along the walls battling for loose pucks. Hyman's combination of intellect, physical athleticism, and skating and stickhandling skills make him a legitimate prospect. What remains to be seen is whether or not his scoring prowess will translate to the NCAA and then to the professional ranks.

Future

Hyman is still a long-range project for the Panthers, but his visibility will skyrocket this season at the University of Michigan. Still a bit of an unknown in terms of his long-term potential, Hyman will have the opportunity to develop physically while increasing his hockey instincts and understanding of tactical play during his college career. He has the talent-level and physical make up necessary to be a sound, two-way player, and projects into the top two lines in the NHL, depending on how well he can take his game to the next level.
