History
Drafted as a 19-year-old with one of the last selections of the 2004 draft, Cracknell's size and work ethic got him noticed by the Flames brass.
Drafted 9th round (279th overall), 2004 by Calgary.
2007-08: Cracknell was recalled from the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL) on Nov. 21. After appearing in four AHL games with Quad City, he returned to Las Vegas on Dec. 17. He appeared in 61 games and was a member of a Wranglers squad that recorded the best regular season record in the ECHL’s National Conference. He finished the season with 29 goals and 30 assists. He led the Wranglers in post-season points (22) and goals (nine) while tying for the team lead in post-season assists (13).
Talent Analysis
A late-bloomer to say the least, Cracknell was not impressive enough to warrant a selection in his draft year when he made the Ice as a walk on and saw little action despite dressing in 67 games for the team. However he showed a lot of hustle, hard work and a nice scoring touch as a 19-year-old, enough to warrant the Flames taking a chance on him as an overager. In order to continue improving, Adam will need to work on his skating and his physical game, however after taking a huge step forward in 2003-04, anything is possible.
